Dress Code

Indian or American Black Tie

For women, we’d suggest long or floor-length dresses or sarees. For men, we’d suggest tuxedos or suits.

Indian or American Semi-Formal Attire

We’d suggest wearing something vibrant and celebratory. Men could opt for a suit or kurta pajama, and women could opt to wear a semi-formal or cocktail dress, salwar kameez, saree, or lehenga. Dress pants and a button down shirt or a nice blouse and skirt would also be suitable.

Indian or American Dressy Casual

The Haldi and Holi will be a fun and colorful event, so we encourage you to wear bright and festive colors. Yellow is traditional, but feel free to wear any color that makes you feel happy! Comfort is key, so breathable fabrics like cotton or chiffon are perfect.

Men could opt to wear a kurta pajama, jeans, khakis or slacks along with a casual button-down shirt or polo. No jackets are necessary. Women could opt to wear a salwar kameez set, kurtas, khakis or jeans, sundresses, dresses, skirt and dressy tops, or dressy pants outfit.

Indian Outfit Styles

Sari (Saree)

A sari is a traditional Indian garment worn by women, consisting of a long piece of cloth, usually six to nine yards in length, draped elegantly around the body. It can be worn in various styles, with the most common being the Nivi style. Saris come in a variety of fabrics, colors, and designs, often adorned with intricate embroidery or embellishments.

Lehenga Choli

A lehenga choli is a popular outfit for festive occasions, comprising a long skirt (lehenga), a fitted blouse (choli), and a dupatta (scarf). Lehengas are often heavily embroidered and come in vibrant colors, making them perfect for weddings and celebrations.

Salwar Kameez

A salwar kameez is a versatile and comfortable outfit, consisting of a long tunic (kameez), loose trousers (salwar), and a dupatta. This outfit is popular for both casual and formal wear, with variations in fabric, embroidery, and styles to suit different occasions.

Anarkali Suit

The Anarkali suit is a variation of the salwar kameez, characterized by its long, flowing, frock-style top that flares out from the waist. It is often heavily embellished and paired with churidar (tight-fitting trousers) and a dupatta. Anarkali suits are elegant and perfect for formal events.

Kurta Pajama

Kurta pajama is a traditional outfit for men, consisting of a long tunic (kurta) and trousers (pajama). Kurtas can be simple or heavily embroidered, and are usually paired with a dupatta or a jacket for a more formal look.

Sherwani

A sherwani is a formal coat-like garment worn by men, often for weddings or special occasions. It is usually paired with churidar or pajama and can be richly embroidered or adorned with intricate designs.
